On January 23, 2014, the Center for Technology Service and Communication under the Center for High Technology Development, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology coordinated with the transport project management unit, Department of Transport of Hung Yen province in the trial installation of 02 LED 110W road lighting sets to replace Metal halide industrial 250W lighting set at La Tien ferry, Phu Cu district, Hung Yen province.

On August 26th, a delegation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee led by Nguyen Thien Nhan, Politburo member and chairman of VFF Central Committee, paid a working visit to Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST).

The Institute of Applied Materials Science was established according to Decision No 2684/QĐ-KHCNVN dated December 26th 2005 by President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. The institute has functions to conduct basic research in material science and technology; develop and transfer new materials and technologies for industrial applications; participate in consulting with the government agencies on development strategies of materials science and technology; establish and promote cooperation relations with international/national organization in the field of materials science and technology.
